Preparation steps

Preheat the oven to 220°C (approximately 425°F).

Peel and slice the potatoes. Cut the bacon into strips. Peel and dice the onions. Peel and slice the garlic. Cook the bacon in a dry pan. Remove from the pan and set aside. Saute the onions and potatoes in the bacon grease, covered, for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Mix in the garlic and bacon. Season with salt, pepper and nutmeg.

Pour the mixture into a baking dish and pour in the milk. Pour in the creme fraiche. Sprinkle with diced cheese. Bake for 25-30 minutes, until golden brown. Serve immediately.
