- 2 onions
- 4 garlic cloves
- 1 carrot
- 600 grams Beef
- 4 Tbsps olive oil
- salt
- 2 Tbsps Tomato paste
- 200 milliliters Vegetable broth
- 100 milliliters white wine
- ½ tsp dried thyme
- Basil (1 tablespoon, finely chopped)
- parsley (1 tablespoon, finely chopped)
- 1 bay leaf
- 2 allspice
- freshly ground peppers

Preparation steps

Peel onions and garlic. Cut onions into thin rings. Rinse and peel carrot, cut into slices. Cut beef into bite-sized cubes. Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a pan and brown meat, few pieces at a time, on all sides. Drain on paper towels.

Add onions and whole garlic cloves to the pan and saute for a few minutes. Return meat to the pan and saute briefly. Add gravy, carrot, tomato paste, vegetable broth, white wine, thyme, basil, parsley, bay leaf and allspice berries and bring to boil. Reduce heat and simmer, covered, for about 1 hour or until meat is tender on low heat, add more broth as needed. Season with salt and pepper and serve.
