- 250 grams white, dried Beans
- 1 onion
- 1 garlic clove
- 1 Tbsp olive oil
- 1 ⅕ liters Vegetable broth
- 1 bay leaf
- 4 allspice
- 250 grams waxy potatoes
- 150 grams Smoked ham
- 150 grams Orzo
- 2 Tbsps freshly chopped parsley
- salt
- freshly ground peppers

Preparation steps

Cover beans soak with water and soak overnight. Then drain. Peel onion and garlic, cut the onion into strips and chop the garlic finely. Sauté together in hot oil in a pot until translucent. Pour in broth, add the bay leaf and allspice berries and then add the beans. Bring to a boil and cook with the lid ajar for about 40 minutes.

Peel potatoes, rinse and dice into small pieces. Add to the soup during the last 20 minutes of cooking. Add ham cubes and stir in the orzo during the last 10 minutes.

Remove the allspice berries and bay leaf from the soup, sprinkle the parsley over the top and season with salt and pepper before serving.
