1 onion
75 grams fatty Bacon

Nutmeg
¾ l Beef broth
½ stalk Leeks
1 carrot
¼ Celery root
2 waxy potatoes

Preparation steps

Rinse the barley and drain well. Peel the onion and chop finely. Dice the bacon and fry in a dry pan until crispy. Add the barley and onions to the pan and season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Add the broth and simmer for 20-25 minutes over low heat.

Meanwhile rinse and chop the leeks. Peel and dice the carrots, celery and potatoes. Add the vegetables to the soup and simmer for another 20 minutes. Season again to taste and serve in bowls, garnished with chives.
