Preparation steps
1.
Soak split peas in 1 liter (approximately 4 cups) of cold water overnight.

Rinse and peel celery root and finely dice. Rinse carrots, peel, cut in half lengthwise, and cut into slices. Rinse leeks, slice lengthwise and slice thinly. Rinse parsley, shake dry and tie with kitchen twine.
3.
Peel onion and chop finely. Heat the oil and sauté onion until translucent.
4.
Drain split peas in a colander. Place in a large saucepan with 1 1/2 liter (approximately 5 cups) of water. Add sautéed vegetables, parsley, and marjoram. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer the soup until the split peas are tender, about 1 1/4 hour. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve immediately.
