Spicy Puff Pastry
- 175 grams Pastry flour
- 100 grams soft butter
- 125 grams Edam cheese (finely grated)
- 1 pinch salt
- ½ tsp Baking powder
- ½ tsp ground paprika
- 50 grams Whipped cream
Mix butter, cheese, pepper, salt and cream until smooth. Mix pastry flour with baking powder and add into the mixture. Knead dough into the shape of a ball, wrap in foil for and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
Then roll out the dough on a floured surface. Cut out animals such as elephants, giraffes, etc. and place on a lined baking tray.
For decoration, whisk egg yolk with 1 tablespoon water and brush the animals. Sprinkle with poppy and sesame seeds to decorate. For the elephant's ears, put pumpkin seeds.
Bake in a preheated oven at 180 ° C (approximately 350° F) for about 12 minutes. Remove and let cool on a wire rack.
