- 1 duck leg (ready to cook, 2.2 kilograms or 1 pound)
- salt
- freshly ground peppers
- 2 Tbsps melted butter
- 2 onions
- 1 Tbsp vegetable oil
- 150 milliliters Red wine
- 150 milliliters Chicken broth
- 100 milliliters Port wine
- 1 tsp cornstarch

Preparation steps
1.
Preheat the oven to 180°C (approximately 350°F).
2.
Rinse duck and pat dry. Season inside and out with salt and pepper. Brush skin with butter. Grease broiler pan with butter. Place on broiler pan and roast for 1 1/2 to 2 hours.

Peel and mince onions. Heat oil in a pan and cook until translucent. Deglaze with wine, broth and port wine. Simmer until reduced by half. Create a slurry with cornstarch and water and whisk into sauce. Season with salt and pepper.
4.
Remove duck from oven and carve. Drizzle with sauce.
5.
Serve, as desired, with cabbage and dumplings.
