Heat the oven to 180°C (160°C in a fan oven), 350°F, gas 4 and line a baking tray with grease-proof paper.
Mix together the flour, cornflour and baking powder. Whisk together the butter, sugar, vanilla sugar and a pinch of salt, using a hand mixer. Stir in half of the flour then knead in the remaining flour by hand.
Form the dough into a sausage around 4 cm in diameter and slice into 1/2 cm thick slices. Press into small shell moulds, remove and place on the baking tray. Place one pearl in the middle of each biscuit and bake in the oven for 5 minutes until the biscuits are straw yellow.
Remove from the baking tray and cool on a wire rack.
