- Ingredients
- 1 red Bell pepper (rinsed and trimmed)
- 1 green Bell pepper (rinsed and trimmed)
- 2 Tbsps olive oil (divided)
- 1 small onion (peeled and finely chopped)
- 4 slices white Bread
- ½ cup water
- 16 ozs ground Beef
- 2 fresh eggs (beaten)
- 1 clove garlic cloves (peeled and minced)
- 2 Tbsps fresh, Italian parsley (rinsed and minced)
- salt (to taste)
- freshly ground Black pepper (to taste)
- 4 sesame Burger buns (split)
- Ketchup to serve (or your favorite condiment)
Preparation steps
1.
Cut the peppers in half lengthwise. Finely dice 1 half of each pepper and cut the remaining pepper halves into strips. Set the strips aside.
2.
Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a large skillet and saute the onions and diced peppers until just soft, about 5 minutes.
3.
Wet the bread with water and tear into small pieces. In a large mixing bowl, combine sauteed onions and peppers, moistened bread pieces, beef, beaten eggs, garlic, parsley, salt and pepper. Mix lightly using clean hands. Form mixture into four patties.
4.
Heat the remaining oil in the skillet and saute the pepper strips until tender crisp, about 4 to 5 minutes. Remove from skillet and keep warm.
5.
Place the hamburg patties in the skillet and cook until both sides are nicely browned and the meat is cooked through, 5 to 6 minutes per side.
6.
Place the pepper strips on each bun bottom, top with a hamburger. Add a dollop of ketchup or your favorite condiment and cover with bun tops. Serve.
