Individual Cherry Buns

Heat the oven to 200°C (180°C in a fan oven), 400°F, gas 6 and grease four ramekins with butter and sprinkle them with sugar.
Soften the bread in the milk. Mix together 70 g butter with the vanilla sugar and gradually stir in the egg yolks. Wring out the bread as well as possible and stir it into the butter mixture.
Beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form and then gradually add the sugar. Carefully fold the egg whites into the bread mixture and then pour the mixture into the ramekins. Place the cherries on top and bake for 25-30 minutes cover with the remaining 10 g butter.
Remove from the ramekins and serve dusted with icing sugar.
