Product recommendation
Decorate with colored sugar before baking or icing when cooled. Yield depends on the size of your cookie cutters.

Preparation steps

1.
In a large bowl, combine butter, sugar, and egg. Beat at medium speed until light and creamy. Add vanilla and orange juice and mix well. Reduce speed and add flour and baking powder. Beat until thoroughly mixed.
2.
Divide dough into thirds. Wrap individually in plastic wrap and flatten slightly. Chill in the refrigerator until firm, about 2 to 3 hours.
3.
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Roll out dough on a lightly floured work surface (keep remaining dough refrigerated until ready to roll out), to 1/4-inch thickness. Cut shapes with a 3-inch cookie cutter. Place 1-inch apart on ungreased baking sheets. Sprinkle with colored sugar, if not using icing. Bake for 6 to 10 minutes, or until edges are just brown.
4.
For Icing:
5.
In a small bowl, combine confectioners' sugar, butter, and vanilla. Beat on low speed, gradually adding milk, until the you reach the desired spreading consistency. Separate into small bowls and tint with food coloring, if desired. Frost and decorate with colored sugars when cookies are completely cooled.
