- For the muffins
- ½ cup butter
- ⅓ cup caster sugar
- 2 Tbsps light brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
- ¼ cup cocoa powder
- 1 tsp Baking powder
- 1 pinch salt
- ½ cup milk
- ½ cup Chocolate chip
- For the topping
- 5 ozs Milk chocolate (30% cocoa solids)
- 3 Tbsps milk
- ⅓ cup butter
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- To decorate
- 1 cup Chocolate chip

Preparation steps
1.
For the muffins: heat the oven to 190°C (170° fan) 375°F gas 5. Place paper cases in a 10 hole muffin tin.
2.
Beat the butter and both sugars in a mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
3.
Gradually beat in the eggs, beating until fully incorporated into the mixture.
4.
Sift in the dry ingredients and gently stir into the mixture. Stir in the milk and chocolate chips.
5.
Spoon the mixture into the paper cases and bake for about 25 minutes, until risen and firm. Cool in the tin for 5 minutes, then place on a wire rack to cool completely.
6.
For the topping: put the chocolate, milk and butter in a heatproof bowl over a pan of simmering (not boiling) water until melted. Stir and remove from the heat. Allow to cool slightly.
7.
Sift in the icing sugar and beat until smooth. Allow to cool, then beat again until the mixture has a fudgy texture.
8.
Spoon the topping on the cakes and sprinkle with the chocolate chips.
