Preparation

Kitchen utensils

1 Skillet, 1 Measuring cups, 1 Cutting board, 1 Small knife, 1 Tablespoon, 1 Teaspoon, 1 Wooden spoon, 1 Brush

Preparation steps

1.
Preheat the oven to 190°C (170° fan) 375F, gas 5.
2.
Line a baking tray with baking parchment.
3.
Sieve both flours into a bowl and mix in the salt, baking soda and baking powder.
4.
Rub the butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs. Then stir in the sugar, raisins and buttermilk to produce a soft dough.
5.
Knead briefly and shape into a round loaf. Place on the prepared baking tray and cut a deep cross in the top of the loaf. Dust the bread lightly with flour.
6.
Stand a bowl of water on the floor of the oven and bake the bread for 35 to 45 minutes. Test to see if it is ready by tapping the underside of the loaf - it will sound hollow when the bread is done. Let cool before slicing.
