Place the hulled and halved strawberries in a saucepan with a little water and cook over a medium heat for 4-5 minutes until they start to soften.
Mash gently and stir in the chiffonade cut basil.
Butter half of the slices of bread and arrange the ham on top. Top with the strawberry and basil mixture. Place the other halves of bread on top to create sandwiches.
Cut in half and garnish with the basil leaves and half a strawberry garnish.
