- 2 ¼ cups honey
- 1 cup Seed oil
- 3 cups brown sugar
- 1 cup plain Chocolate
- 1 ¾ cups ground Hazelnuts
- Sea salt
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp ground cloves
- 4 eggs
- 3 ⅓ cups flour
- 1 sachet Baking powder
- In addition
- Apricot Jam
- powdered sugar (for dusting)

Preparation steps
1.
Melt the honey, oil and sugar in a pan over a medium heat, stirring constantly. Remove from the heat and cool slightly.
2.
Add the broken chocolate and stir until melted. Then stir in the ground hazelnuts, salt, spices and eggs.
3.
Mix the flour and baking powder and sieve on to the mixture. Mix thoroughly. Spread the mixture on a greased deep baking tray and bake at 180° for 45 minutes.
4.
Take out of the oven and cool thoroughly.
5.
For the “Christmas tree” cut large stars out of the cake, assemble into a Christmas tree shape, sticking the pieces together with warmed apricot jam, and dust with icing sugar.
