- For the cakes
- ⅔ cup butter
- 1 ½ cups powdered sugar
- 3 eggs
- vanilla extract
- ¾ cup self-rising flour
- ⅓ cup Almond flour
- ¼ cup Corn starch
- For the icing
- 2 ½ cups powdered sugar
- 2 Tbsps water
- To decorate
- Sugar star
- edible, silver Bauble
- powdered sugar

Preparation steps
1.
For the cakes: heat the oven to 180°C (160° fan) 350°F gas 4. Place paper cases in a 12 hole bun tin.
2.
Beat the butter with the sugar, eggs and vanilla in a mixing bowl until light and fluffy. Stir in the flour, ground almonds and cornflour until blended.
3.
Spoon the mixture into the paper cases and bake for about 15 minutes (Test to see if they are done by inserting a cocktail stick - it should come out clean). Cool in the tin for 5 minutes then place on a wire rack to cool completely.
4.
To decorate: sift the icing sugar into a bowl and add just enough water to make a thick coating icing.
5.
Spread the icing on the cakes and decorate with sugar stars and silver baubles. Leave to set. Sift over a little icing sugar just before serving.
