Preparation steps

1.

To make sauce: Rinse, trim and cut scallions crosswise into rings. Peel and halve garlic. Heat 2 tablespoons oil in a pan. Add scallions and sauté. Add garlic and sauté briefly. Stir in chopped tomatoes and 4 tablespoons water. Simmer over medium heat, stirring frequently, about 5 minutes. Season with salt, pepper and 1-2 teaspoons sugar.

2.

Very briefly heat corn in boiling water. Remove and drain. Melt 1-2 tablespoons butter. Roll corn in butter to coat and season with a little salt and pepper.

3.

Cook steaks in a dry grill pan, 3-5 minutes per side (depending on desired degree of doneness). Then season with salt and pepper and drizzle each steak with 1 tablespoon olive oil.

4.

Serve steaks with corn on the cob and tomato sauce. Serve with fresh white bread, if desired.
