What is cellulite?

Scientists theorize that as women get older, their estrogen levels decrease, which leads to lower blood flow to the tissues, lower oxygen levels, and lower collagen production. When estrogen levels decrease, fat cells get larger, and with the thinning of skin due to age, the fat cells are more apparent. Genetically, certain people are more prone to cellulite than others, so some factors cannot be avoided. Lastly, lifestyle can influence cellulite production. People that smoke, don’t exercise, sit for long periods of time, wear constricting clothing on their buttox, or consume a lot of fat, carbs, salt, and little fiber are more likely to develop cellulite than others.
