75 milliliters balsamic vinegar

1 roll Puff pastry dough (275 grams)

Preparation steps

Preheat oven to 180°C (approximately 350°F). Peel onions and cut into thin columns. Peel garlic and coarsely chop. Rinse thyme, shake dry and cut the branches a bit smaller.

Heat oil in a pan and sauté onions, stirring occasionally, for about 5 minutes. Then add garlic, thyme and vinegar. Simmer about 5 minutes and then season with salt, pepper and sugar. Butter a tart pan (or griddle) and pour in the onion mixture. Roll out the puff pastry and cut a circle 5 cm (approximately 1 3/4 inch) larger than the pan with 27 cm (approximately 10 1/2 inch) diameter. Place on top of onions and push excess dough to the edge of the pan. Bake in the oven about 25 minutes until golden brown. Then remove from oven and serve warm, with a green salad as desired.
