250 grams sugar (plus more to taste)
3 Tbsps lemon juice

Preparation steps

1.

Thoroughly rinse the elderberries several times. Discard any green berries. Place the berries and 500 ml (approximately 17 ounces) of water in a pot, and simmer gently for 15 minutes. Pass the juice through a fine strainer or cheesecloth. Squeeze the berries well to extract all of the juice.

Bring the juice, sugar, and lemon juice to a boil. Rinse some jars or bottles in boiling water. Dry briefly, then add the juice to the containers. Seal tightly, and cool completely.
