Toast the bread in a toaster or under a hot grill. Cut into soldiers and serve with the boiled eggs in egg cups.

Beat the eggs with the milk in a shallow dish. Dip the bread into the mixture, coating both sides. Melt a knob of butter in a frying pan set over a moderate heat until hot. Fry the dipped bread slices for 1 - 2 minutes on both sides until golden. Repeat using a fresh of knob of butter for each slice. Serve warm.
