9 ozs plain Chocolate (for cooking)
1 cup butter (scant)
5 eggs
1.111 cups brown sugar
½ tsp salt
2 cups all-purpose flour
4 ozs Nut (e. g. walnuts and peanuts, finely chopped)

Preparation steps

1.
Heat the oven to 180°C (160°C in a fan oven), 375°F, gas 5. Line a deep baking tray with grease-proof paper.
2.
Melt the chocolate with the butter in a bowl over hot water. Stir well and take off the heat.
3.
In a separate bowl, beat the eggs with the brown sugar and the salt until fluffy. Stir in the chocolate mixture, then fold in the flour. Tip the mixture into the tray and scatter over the nuts.
4.
Bake in the centre of the oven for around 30 minutes so that it is still a little soft in the middle - when you do a cocktail stick test, a little of the mixture should stick.
5.
Remove from the oven and leave to cool, then cut into slices (approx. 5x6 cm).
