Preparation steps

Peel the white asparagus carefully and cut off the woody ends. Peel only the lower third of the green asparagus and trim the tough bottoms. Tie the green asparagus in a bundle with a kitchen twine. Tie the white asparagus in another bundle.
Bring a large pot of salted water with lemon juice to a boil. Add 2 teaspoons of butter and sugar, place the white asparagus in and cook 18 minutes until al dente. Cook the green asparagus about 12 minutes until al dente. Drain well.

Melt the butter in a skillet and saute the bacon until crisp. Rinse the sage leaves, pat dry and stir into the pan, season with salt and pepper. Pour the sauce over the cooked asparagus.
