- 1 ¾ cups chopped Dried dates
- ⅕ cup butter
- 1 ½ cups boiling water
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup coconut sugar (scant)
- 1 cup Almond flour
- 1 cup chopped Walnut (heaped)
- 3 cups self-rising flour
- 2 tsps Mixed spice

Preparation steps
1.
Heat the oven to 180°C (160° fan) 350°F gas 4. Line a 30cm x 23cm|(12? x 9?baking tin with non-stick baking paper.
2.
Put the dates, butter and boiling water into a bowl, stir and set aside to cool.
3.
Whisk together the eggs and sugar in a mixing bowl until blended.
4.
Beat in the date mixture and the remaining ingredients until well mixed.
5.
Pour into the tin and bake for about 1 hour until golden brown and firm to the touch. cool in the tin for 10 minutes, then place on a wire rack to cool completely.
6.
Cut into squares to serve.
