Preheat the oven to 180°C (approximately 350°F).

Rinse the plums, remove the stones, and cut in half or in quarters. Mix with the sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Ad the cloves to a spice bag and add to the mixture. Place the mixture in a roasting pan, and let simmer for 3 hours, stirring occasionally.

Remove the spices, and fill the prepared jars. Seal tightly and cool completely.
