For the macaroons, preheat the oven to 160°C (approximately 325°F). Grease a baking sheet with butter.
Beat egg whites until stiff. Gradually add salt, sugar, lemon juice and lemon zest and continue to beat until very stiff. Fold in the ground pecans. Scoop with two teaspoons into portions and set on the baking sheet with some space between the portions. Decorate with pecans. Bake on the middle rack for about 25 minutes. Remove and let cool.
