- ½ cup butter
- ¾ cup light brown sugar
- 2 cups self-rising flour
- ¼ tsp salt
- 1 egg (beaten)

Preparation steps
1.
Heat the oven to 190°C (170° fan) 375°F gas 5. Line 2 large baking trays with non-stick baking paper.
2.
Cream together the walnut oil and butter until smooth.
3.
Stir in the sugar, flour, salt and walnuts. Bind with sufficient egg to form a soft dough.
4.
Form the dough into a roll and wrap in clingfilm. Chill well for at least 4 hours or overnight until firm.
5.
Slice the roll into rounds with a sharp knife and place on the baking trays.
6.
Bake for 10-15 minutes (depending on thickness) until crisp and golden. Cool on the baking trays for a few minutes, then place on a wire rack to cool completely.
