Preparation steps

For the lemonade, peel lemons (removing all white skin) and slice thinly. Squeeze the juice (there should be about 150 ml/approximately 2/3 cup). Combine juice, mint and 300 ml (approximately 1 1/4 cup) of water in a bowl. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Bring the sugar to a boil in a saucepan with 300 ml (approximately 1 1/4 cup) of water, boil rapidly for 3-4 minutes, remove from heat and let cool.

Strain the lemon juice through a sieve into a bowl. Add the sugar syrup, mix well, pour into a pitcher and chill.

Before serving, place slices of lemon and ice cubes in the lemonade and add still or sparkling mineral water, if desired.
