4 slices Bacon
600 grams Cherry tomatoes
1 red onion
2 Tbsps freshly cut Basil
2 Tbsps lemon juice
4 Tbsps olive oil

1 pinch sugar
4 Steak such as strip steak (about 400 grams or approximately 1 pound)
vegetable oil (for the grill)

Preparation steps

Cook the bacon until golden brown and crispy in a hot, non-stick pan. Drain on paper towels and break into pieces. Rinse and halve the cherry tomatoes. Peel the onion and chop finely. In a bowl, mix the tomatoes and onions, stir in the basil, lemon juice and oil and season with salt, sugar and pepper. Add the bacon and fold to combine.

Rinse the steaks, pat dry and season with salt and pepper. Brush the hot grill with the oil, place steak on it and grill for 3-8 minutes on each side (depending on thickness and desired doneness of meat). Rinse the tomatoes, remove the stalks and cut into slices. Season with salt and pepper, and grill along with the steak during the last 4-5 minutes of cooking.

Serve the steaks alongside the grilled tomato slices and the tomato salad.
