Carrots not only make the muesli nice and juicy, but also contain a lot of beta-carotene, a precursor of vitamin A. This fat-soluble vitamin is important for healthy eyes, among other things.
If you find Bircher Müsli sweet enough without it, you should leave out the maple syrup.

- 250 grams Muesli oats, barley, wheat, rye)
- 60 grams raisins
- 30 grams Hazelnuts
- 2 carrots
- 2 Apple
- 2 Tbsps Maple syrup
- 200 grams Yogurt (low-fat)
Preparation steps
Bring the milk to a boil in a pot. Add in the flakes, and return to a boil. Add the raisins, stir to combine, and transfer to a bowl. Let cool.
Cover and let soak overnight in the refrigerator.
Coarsely chop the hazelnuts. Peel and rinse the carrots and apples, then finely grate.
Mix the carrots, apples, hazelnuts, maple syrup, and yogurt. Mix with the cereal mixture, and divide into 6 bowls.
