Some salads are extremely light and don't offer a lot of nutrition. This salad contains protein and healthy fats from the nuts and meat, making it more satisfying. 

You can serve this as a starter or as a meal with a side of bread to complete it.

½ cup shelled Macadamia Nuts (roughly chopped)
butter (for the baking tray)
8 ripe Figs (halved)
3 Tbsps brown sugar
1 Tbsp lemon juice
1 Tbsp white wine vinegar
4 Tbsps olive oil
5 cups mixed Lettuce
4 slices ham (cut into thin strips)

Preparation steps

Preheat the grill to moderately hot.

Dry roast the nuts and grease a baking tray with butter. Place the figs on the baking tray with cut side down. Sprinkle with sugar and grill until golden.

To make the vinaigrette, mix together the lemon juice, vinegar, and olive oil. Season with salt and ground black pepper.

Mix the lettuce leaves and the ham with the vinaigrette, arrange on plates and top with the caramelized figs. Serve sprinkled with the nuts.
