1.
Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F.

Peel and core the apples and roughly dice them into chunks. Put the apple chunks into a sauce pan. Add 1/2 cup water, 1 cup of the sugar, the cinnamon stick and allspice and cover.

Allow to stew gently over low heat for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally with a wooden spoon. Remove and discard cinnamon stick and transfer the apples into a baking dish large enough to fill the bottom.
4.
In a large bowl, mix the flour, butter and remaining sugar with your fingers in a bowl until it becomes like a breadcrumb consistency.
5.
Cover the stewed apples with the crumble topping. Bake for 30 minutes or until the crumble is golden brown and crunchy.
6.
Spoon into dessert glasses and sprinkle with powdered sugar. Serve.
