Preparation steps

1.

Peel the red onion. Finely chop half the onion and slice the other half into rings.

In a bowl, combine the diced onion with the ground beef. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Rinse the tomatoes, core and slice. Slice the pickles. Rinse the lettuce and shake dry.

Divide the ground beef mixture into 4 burgers. Heat the oil in a skillet. Add the burgers and cook until browned and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes.

Cut the rolls in half horizontally. Brush the bottom half with ketchup. Arrange the lettuce leaves and dill pickle slices on top. Place a burger on top followed by the tomato slices and onion rings. Top with the remaining bun half. 

4.

Serve decorated with flags if desired.
