- 180 grams Pastry flour
- 40 grams Cocoa
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- 1 generous pinch ground cloves
- 1 pinch ground allspice
- ½ tsp ground Vanilla
- 70 grams coarsely ground Nut
- 50 grams brown sugar
- 110 grams softened butter
- 1 egg
- 1 Tbsp Espresso (freshly brewed, cooled)

Preparation steps

Combine flour, cocoa, cinnamon, cloves, allspice, vanilla, nuts and sugar. In the center, make a well. Add butter in small pieces around well and add egg and espresso to well. Knead quickly until smooth. Wrap in plastic wrap and chill for 1 hour. Preheat oven to 180°C (approximately 350°F).

Roll dough into a log shape about 4 cm (approximately 2 inches) in diameter. Roll in sugar and cut 1 cm (approximately 1/2 inch) thick slices. Place slices on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 10-12 minutes. Remove, cool and serve.
