Preparation steps

1.

Grease a casserole with butter.

Peel the apples, quarter, cut out the core, and cut the apple quarters into small pieces. Sprinkle the apple pieces with lemon juice and spread into the greased casserole.

2.

Rinse the thyme, shake dry and chop very finely. Mix the oats with breadcrumbs and Parmesan in a bowl. Melt the butter and mix well into the oats mixture. Season the mixture with salt, paprika and nutmeg. Spread the oats mixture over the apples in the casserole and press down slightly. Lay the strips of bacon over the oats mixture.

Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (fan: 160°C, gas mark 2-3) (approximately 350°F) for about 30 minutes. The casserole should be golden brown and bacon should be crisp. Remove the casserole from the oven, allow to cool and serve garnished with a sprig of thyme.
