Ingredients

Butter (for the waffle iron)

Whipping cream (whipped if desired)
Powdered sugar (for dusting as garnish)

Preparation steps

1.

For the waffles, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Add the eggs, one at a time, fully incorporating after each egg. Stir together the flour, baking powder, and ground almonds. Stir the flour mixture into the butter mixture.

Grease the waffle iron with a little butter and ladle in the batter. Bake until golden brown.

Chop the chocolate coarsely and melt with the cream over a hot water bath. 

4.

Serve the waffles dusted with powdered sugar and drizzled with chocolate sauce. Top with a dollop of whipped cream if desired.
