Veal Filet with Strawberries

- 600 grams Veal fillet
- salt
- freshly ground peppers
- 400 grams Strawberries
- 2 handfuls Basil
- 2 Tbsps olive oil
- 80 milliliters Pastis
- sugar
Preparation steps
Preheat the oven to 80°C (approximately 175°F) upper and lower heat.
Rinse the filets, pat dry and cut into 8 equal thick pieces, each about 2-3 cm (approximately 3/4- 1 1/4 inch) thick. Press with the heel of the hand slightly, if necessary, so that all pieces are flattened evenly. Season with salt and pepper.
Rinse the strawberries, pat dry, remove the green top and halve or quarter the berries depending on size. Rinse the basil, shake dry and coarsely chop the leaves.
Heat 2 tablespoons oil in a pan over medium heat and cook the filets 2-3 minutes per side. Then remove from the pan and cook 10-15 minutes in the oven until done.
Heat the remaining heat oil and sauté the strawberries about 1 minute. Then stir in the pastis and the basil. Season with salt, pepper and a pinch of sugar.
Spoon the sauce with the veal onto warmed plates and serve immediately. Serve with baguette, if desired.
