Preparation steps

Preheat the oven to 180°C (approximately 350°F).

Beat 150 grams (approximately 12 tablespoons) butter, sugar and vanilla sugar until creamy. Gradually add the eggs and stir until combined. Add the milk. Sift the flour with the baking powder then fold in until just combined. Transfer to a buttered loaf pan and bake for 35-40 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Remove from the oven, let cool slightly then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Crumble the cake batter into a bowl. Beat the cream cheese with the remaining butter and powdered sugar until fluffy. Mix with the cake crumbs. Shape into small balls (diameter about 2 cm) (approximately 3/4 inch), insert wooden skewers and chill for about 30 minutes.

To decorate: Chop the chocolate and melt over a hot water bath. Tint a small amount bright orange. Coat the sunflower seeds with orange chocolate for the noses and let dry on parchment paper. Tint a small amount of the remaining chocolate black. Transfer to a piping bag. Dip the cake pops in the remaining white chocolate, drain and let dry. Decorate with the noses and cookie hats and let dry. Pipe the eyes and mouth on with black chocolate.
