Preparation steps

1.

Grease a springform pan with butter. The edges should be greased thinly and the bottom thickly. Sprinkle the springform pan with 50 grams (approximately ¼ cup) sugar.

Rinse, core and halve the plums. Place the plums next to each other with the cut side down into the bottom of the springform pan.

For the batter, beat the butter with the salt until light and fluffy. Stir in the remaining sugar alternately with the eggs. Mix the flour with the baking powder and the milk, and add gradually into the egg-butter mixture to form a smooth batter. Pour the batter over the plums and smoothen the surface.

Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (fan: 160°C, gas mark 2-3) (approximately 350°F) for about 50 minutes (insert a toothpick to check for doneness).

Remove the pan from oven, let cool completely and serve the cake plunged from the pan.
