Tart with Toffee Sauce
- For the cake
- 8 eggs
- 300 grams sugar
- 1 packet Vanilla sugar
- 1 pinch salt
- 300 grams Pastry flour
- 100 grams almonds (crushed, peeled)
- 1 packet Baking powder
- 150 grams Date (seeded, coarsely chopped)
- 1 tablespoon butter (for greasing)
- 2 tablespoons breadcrumbs
Beat eggs with sugar and salt about 7 minutes on highest setting of a hand mixer until fluffy. Mix flour and baking powder together and gently whisk into egg mixture. Add almonds also.
Grease baking tray and sprinkle with breadcrumbs and dates. Pour in batter and bake at 180 ° C (approximately 350 ° F) for about 30 minutes. For the sauce, melt chocolate above a hot water bath and stir in cream and Amaretto. From the still hot cake, cut out circles about 10 cm (approximately 4 inches) in diameter, transfer to plates, pour sauce over and serve.
