The low-fat curd cheese not only makes these sweet rolls wonderfully juicy, but also provides us with easily digestible proteins, which on the one hand keep us satiated for a long time and on the other hand are great for building muscle. Calcium from the quark and milk also helps to keep bones and teeth healthy.
A homemade fruit spread is the perfect accompaniment to the sweet rolls for breakfast - if there is not enough time for breakfast, these rolls are also ideal to take away as a small snack.
Sift the flour, baking powder and 75 grams (approximately 2 1/2 ounces) of sugar onto a work surface. Mix in the salt, vanilla sugar, quark, milk and butter until smooth. If needed, add more flour or milk. Wrap in plastic wrap and leave in the refrigerator for about 1 hour.
Preheat the oven to 180°C (approximately 350°F).
Knead the dough well on a floured work surface and divide into 12-15 pieces. Shape the dough pieces into round balls, roll them in sugar and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake for about 20 minutes until golden brown.
Remove from the oven and baking sheet, let cool on a wire rack and serve.
