For the cake

Preparation steps

1.
For the cake: heat the oven to 190°C (170° fan) 375°F gas 5. Grease a 20cm|8" square tin and line the base with non-stick baking paper.

Beat together the sugar, butter and egg in a mixing bowl until blended.
3.
Sift in the flour, baking powder and salt and stir into the mixture, alternating with the milk.
4.
Stir in the blueberries and pour into the tin.
5.
For the crumble topping: combine all the ingredients and rub together with your fingers until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs. Sprinkle the crumble topping over the cake mixture.
6.
Bake for 45 minutes until golden and cooked through. Cool in the tin for 10 minutes. Serve warm, cut into squares.
