100 grams cane sugar
125 grams butter
1 egg
250 Pastry flour
1 teaspoon Baking powder
1 pinch salt
½ teaspoon cinnamon
100 ground almonds
70 grams slivered almonds

Preparation steps

1.

Beat the butter with the sugar, egg and salt until foamy, then stir in the flour, baking powder, spices and almonds and knead together. Form into a ball, wrap in plastic wrap and chill for at least 4 hours in the fridge.

Sprinkle the almonds on a lined baking sheet.

Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 4 mm (approximately 1/8 inch) thick, cut out star shapes and place over the flaked almonds, press lightly and bake in an oven preheated to 200°C (approximately 400°F) for 10-12 minutes until golden brown. Remove and allow to cool on a wire rack beofre serving.
