For the batter
100 grams Pecan
200 grams Date
125 grams butter
6 eggs
100 grams sugar
250 grams Pastry flour
2 teaspoons cocoa powder
75 grams raisins
1 tablespoon cinnamon
1 generous pinch cloves
2 teaspoons Baking powder
Fat (for the pan)
milk (as needed)
For decorating
150 grams powdered sugar
1 tablespoon lemon juice
Sugar pearls (silver)

Preparation steps

For the batter, coarsley chop the nuts. Remove the pits from the dates and chop. Melt the butter and let cool. Separate the eggs. Beat the egg yolks with the sugar until fluffy. Stir in the butter, flour, baking powder, cocoa powder, nuts, dates, raisins, cinnamon and cloves.  If the batter is too thick, stir in a little milk.

Beat the egg whites until stiff and carefully fold into the egg yolk mixture. Grease the pan with fat and sprinkle with flour. Pour in the batter and smooth. Bake for about 1 hour at 180°C (approximately 350°F). Remove the cake from the oven and let cool. 

For the decoation, mix the powdered sugar and lemon juice. Spread the glaze over the cake. Garnish the cake with sugar pearls and allow to dry. Cut into pieces and serve.
