Birch sugar is also known as xylitol.

Preparation steps

1.

Bring birch sugar and 3 Tablespoons water to a boil while stirring. Add 5 Tablespoons cream spoon by spoon and simmer over medium heat until the mixture turns golden brown. Stir regularly.

2.

Take the caramel sauce off the stove. First stir in butter, then 1 Tablespoon water and the rest of the cream.

3.

Season caramel sauce with salt and stir until smooth.
