Preparation steps

Mix flour and baking powder in a mixing bowl. Cut the butter into cubes and rub with the flour mixture into crumbs. Stir in sugar and make a well in the center of the flour mixture. Pour in milk and stir just to combine. On a floured surface, knead with hands into a smooth dough. If necessary, add a little flour or milk until the dough no longer sticks to the hands.

Preheat the oven to 200°C (approximately 400°F) convection. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Divide the dough into 12 pieces and shape into round scones. Set with some space between on the baking sheet and bake in the oven until risen and golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center of a scone comes out clean, 10-12 minutes.

Remove from the oven and let cool on a rack. Serve while still warm or cooled, to taste. Serve with honey, if desired.
