Nutritional values

There are good reasons why sardines are one of the most popular foods from the sea around the Mediterranean: not only do they taste deliciously hearty, they also provide a good 19 percent protein, plenty of omega-3 fatty acids and many other important nutrients such as iodine, vitamin D and minerals.

It is on the grill that the herring relatives, which were originally particularly common near the Italian island of Sardinia, develop their typical, spicy taste best.
