This syrup is quite high in sugar, but because of the quince in it, it still contains vitamins, minerals, and fiber. 

You can use this syrup to make cocktails, sweeten coffee, make ice cream, spice up a fruit salad, and more! The possibilities are endless.

1 Cinnamon stick
2 cloves
1 Star anise
7 ounces sugar

Preparation steps

Rinse, quarter and remove seeds from quinces. Cut fruit into cubes and transfer to a pot. Cover with water and simmer about 40 minutes.

Pour fruit with its liquid through a strainer lined with cheesecloth. Squeeze to remove as much liquid as possible. In a pot, boil resulting juice with spices and sugar until reduced, 15-20 minutes. Strain through a sieve and pour into a bottle that can be sealed. Let cool.
