Preparation steps

Preheat the oven to 200°C (approximately 400°F). Grease a 2-liter (2-quart) capacity baking dish with butter and sprinkle with sugar.

Rinse the strawberries, trim and leave whole or halve, depending on the size. Place half the strawberries in the baking dish.

Beat the butter, sugar and lemon zest together until creamy. Separate the eggs. Beat the yolks gradually into the butter cream. Stir in the quark, flour and semolina. Beat the egg whites with 1 tablespoon lemon juice until stiff and fold into the quark mixture. Evenly spread the mixture over the strawberries in the baking dish. Sprinkle with the remaining strawberries and bake until golden brown about 45 minutes.
