Preparation steps

For the streusel: Mix all the ingredients with the dough hook of a mixer until crumbly.

Preheat the oven to 180°C (approximately 350°F). Butter the springform pan.

Place half the streusel on the bottom of the pan and press down evenly.

For the cake: Drain the mandarin oranges. Separate the eggs. Bring the milk to a boil with the sugar and vanilla. Add the semolina while stirring. Bring to a boil, take off the heat and let soak for about 10 minutes. Stir in the egg yolks, quark, cornstarch, butter, and poppy seeds. Beat the egg whites until stiff and fold into the batter with the oranges. Spread into the pan and bake in the oven for about 60 minutes. Cover with parchment paper if it gets too dark.

Remove from oven, let cool and then turn out from the pan.

For decoration: Mix the powdered sugar with the lemon juice into a thick glaze. Drizzle over the cake. Cut into pieces and serve.
